Our CACREP-accredited programs train culturally competent, caring counselors who serve a diverse, multilingual urban community.

Our graduates have gone on to become master teachers, school library media specialists, published researchers and authors, corporate trainers, school leaders, and professional developers.

The Department of Multicultural Leadership aims to prepare reflective, caring, and highly skilled educational practitioners to lead urban schools in their chosen professions, to expand educational theory and practice in urban settings through research, and to work in partnership with constituents to effect change in educational practice in urban schools.

The ÄÛ²ÝÓ°Ôº New Pathways Alternate Route program is a unique, completely online program for people with a bachelor's degree to become a certified teacher in New ÄÛ²ÝÓ°Ôº.

Our courses focus on the socio-historical and theoretical foundations of education, educational psychology, content-specific and multidisciplinary methods, and differentiated instruction for today's diverse classroom.

Graduates of the Special Education Department become capable teachers who believe in the transformative power of an outstanding education.

The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Literacy prepares reflective, skilled, and equity-based educators at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. We also prepare literacy specialists for careers in teaching, coaching, training, coordinating instructional programs, diagnosing and treating literacy problems, and developing curriculum.

The College of Education is dedicated to the belief that education is transformative and empowering and that social justice can best be accomplished through an educated citizenry.
