ÄÛ²ÝÓ°Ôº Celebrates Nursing Graduates in Pinning Ceremony
JERSEY CITY, N.J. | On May 15, the (ÄÛ²ÝÓ°Ôº) ​​Nursing program held its Accelerated Nursing Program Pinning Ceremony to celebrate the ÄÛ²ÝÓ°Ôº at Fort Monmouth Class of 2023.
The ÄÛ²ÝÓ°Ôº Nursing program holds pinning ceremonies twice annually — one for students on its main campus and one for those enrolled in its new location, ÄÛ²ÝÓ°Ôº at Fort Monmouth. This was the second Fort Monmouth ceremony.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Dr. Joyce Wright, Associate Professor, RN to BSN Program Coordinator, and chair of the ÄÛ²ÝÓ°Ôº Nursing Department, led the graduates in the Nightingale Pledge.
The tradition of the nursing pin and pinning ceremony is steeped in tradition, and has a long history dating back to 1880 when the first pin was presented to the graduating class of the Bellevue Hospital of Nursing in New York City.
